Manufacturer Entegra Coach
Components SERVICE BRAKES, AIR
Potential Number of Units Affected 392
Summary
Entegra Coach (Entegra) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Aspire and Insignia motorhomes. The service and supply reservoirs have an insufficient volume of air for the brake system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, “Air Brake Systems.”
Remedy
Dealers will replace the air reservoir, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 21, 2022. Owners may contact Entegra customer service at 1-800-283-8267.

CORRECTION:
Install larger capacity air reservoir
Chronology :
Shyft Group/Spartan RV Chassis provided this chronology: On, or near, December 8, 2017, Engineering reviewed certain configurations of axles with certain brake chambers and performs capacity calculations on those axles. Engineering consults with Compliance on the preliminary findings.
December 12, 2017, Compliance completes review of the requirements in FMVSS 121 for air reservoir capacity and performs calculation to confirm Engineering’s findings. A VIN list identifying motor home chassis that could be affected by this condition and a stop ship was placed on further shipments until the condition was remedied. Information regarding the actual capacity of the brake chambers was sought.
On 12/13/17, the actual capacity of the service brake chambers was reviewed and it was determined the calculated amount of capacity was lower than the actual.
On December 15, 2017, Shyft determined a noncompliance to exist in the affected units. On Wednesday October 12, 2022 sent to notice to Shyft (formerly Spartan) its petition has been denied.
On October 19, 2021 engineering identified affected design codes from the previous recalled chassis were not made obsolete and began to investigated if those codes were used in other builds.

On October 21 a potential list of VIN’s was identified. The locations of the affected chassis were evaluated and on 11/10 reconciled the recall population needed to be expanded. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Shyft will exchange one air reservoir with one with larger air capacity.
